From 2025, the Trustees of The Steel Charitable Trust will award discretionary grants across the following two programmes:
- Luton Matters Programme: a specific programme designed to bring benefits to Luton and its residents. When there is sufficient grants budget to open the programme to new applicants, the process for application is open to any organisation that meets the eligibility criteria.
- United Kingdom Under-26 Programme: a programme limited to the support of charities that work with young people up to the age of 25 in any part of the UK except Luton. The overarching focus is on creating educational and/or access opportunities for those in circumstances, groups or locations that face economic challenges, social marginalisation or poor outcomes in later life. In 2026, this will be a by invitation only programme. No decision has been made about how applications for this programme will operate beyond 2026. Unsolicited enquiries about this programme will not be accepted.
